Education Volunteer

Oakville Galleries runs several art education programs year round such as children’s camps and workshops. Volunteers play an important role in our art programming and help them to run smoothly. Ideal candidates have an interest in the arts, enjoy working with children, and are responsible, hard workers.

Visitor Services and Event Volunteer

Visitor Services and Event Volunteers play a vital, public-facing role at Oakville Galleries, serving as the first point of contact for visitors at our Gairloch location (1306 Lakeshore Road East) and our Centennial Square location (120 Navy Street). As members of the front-of-house team, volunteers act as ambassadors for the gallery, helping to create a welcoming, informed, and engaging visitor experience.

This role encompasses the core functions of visitor services, including front desk coverage, support for public programs, and assistance during special events. Volunteers regularly interact with visitors of all ages, providing information about exhibitions, programs, and membership, and supporting a range of gallery activities in a dynamic cultural environment.

Co-Op and Internship Program

As a part of the Education Department,  Oakville Galleries hosts many job shadowing, co-op, internship, and teacher candidates throughout the year.

If you are interested in the arts or pursuing a job in education, consider Oakville Galleries as your host institution! Students will develop leadership, communication, organization, and teamwork skills and will work towards achieving goals co-created with the candidate and Oakville Galleries.

We are now currently recruiting co-op students for fall/winter 2025.

Reporting to the Head of Education and Education Assistant, our Education Co-op students play an important role in our education programs by supporting our staff and visitors with art and related activities. Ideal candidates are interested in the arts, enjoy working with children, and are responsible, hard workers.
